What these vehicles are
In order to improve performance, BeamNG.drive and BeamNG.tech include simplified versions of the main roster of vehicles.
Such vehicles feature simplified jbeam physics structures and less detailed 3D models and materials. This results in much less intensive RAM, VRAM, GPU and CPU usage compared to their fully detailed counterparts. Therefore, a greater number of vehicles can be run on the average computer hardware while maintaining smooth performance.
Simplified lineup includes both drivable and parked variations of the vehicles, which are utilised by the traffic system.
As these vehicles are intended for traffic usage and are prioritising optimisation, not all variants of vehicles are included. Most major factory models such as facelifts or body styles are available, but not full configuration lineups or aftermarket configurations.
The vehicles currently available (in v0.33) in simplified traffic vehicle form are:
- Bruckell Bastion
- Bruckell Legran
- Ibishu BX-Series
- Ibishu Covet
- ETK 800-Series
- ETK I-Series
- Gavril D-Series
- Gavril Grand Marshall
- Gavril H-Deries
- Gavril Roamer
- Ibishu Pessima (1988-1991)
- Ibishu Pessima (1996-2000)
- Soliad Lansdale
The Cherrier Vivace, ETK K-Series, Hirochi Sunburst and Soliad Wendover do not currently have simplified versions available due to development time constraints, but will be included in the next major release.
Usage
The simplified traffic vehicles can be enabled by ensuring that the Use simplified vehicles
option is checked under Traffic, in the Gameplay tab of the Settings menu.
Once this option is enabled, spawning traffic via the Traffic tab under AI in the radial menu will utilise the simplified vehicles automatically.
Simplified traffic vehicles can be removed through the Remove traffic
button under the same tab of the radial menu, or through the Remove others
option in the Vehicle Selector menu.
More information regarding the traffic system can be found under the AI and Traffic page .
While manual spawning of the simplified traffic vehicles is possible, it is only recommended for advanced use cases. As stated earlier, their intended purpose is to support a higher vehicle count within the traffic system. To manually spawn a simplified vehicle, first enable Include auxiliary debug content
option in the Vehicle Selector, then browse through the available options listed under Simplified Traffic Vehicles
towards the very bottom of the Vehicle Selector.
